Tomas Obsil's Research Activities

My research programs focus on the physico-chemical and biological properties of biomembranes, using common molecular biology methods such as cloning and expressions of proteins and physical techniques such as time-resolved and steady-state fluorescence spectroscopy. Projects under investigation include; (1) structural analysis of H4-H5 cytoplasmic loop of Na+,K+-ATPase, (2) the study of lipid-lipid and lipid-protein interactions in biomembranes, (3) characterization of the effect of pollutants on the structure and function of lipid bilayers.Techniques from biophysical chemistry, biochemistry, analytical chemistry and computer science are employed.
